Crabtree & Evelyn - New Pomegranate Range

The much anticipated Pomegranate, argan and grapeseed range from Crabtree & Evelyn is now in store at Red Works.

The intensive shea butter-rich hand cream, blended with macadamia nut, pomegranate, grapeseed, and argan  oils, moisturises and smoothes dry skin and leaves your hands feeling incredibly soft. Myrrh helps condition cuticles and nails. Formulated without parabens, phthaletes, propylene glycol, and mineral oil.

Fragrance:  The tart sweetness of pomegranate coupled with a burst of citrus and fresh fig leaf.

Argan Oil* comes from the nuts of the argan tree (argania spinosa) which grows only in the South Western part of Morocco. Berber women (native Moroccans) have used it for centuries by producing the Argan oil for consumption and traditional Moroccan medicines. The oil has an interesting nutritional and unique cosmetic properties.This typical Moroccan tree is also closely related to the Olive tree.The Argan tree grows a yellow-brown coloured fruit which contains one big nut and inside the nut it has 1-3 almonds that can hold up to 55% of oil.

The Moroccan people have many of uses for the whole tree, it is an essential source of income for all, the wood is used as fuel and sold, the leaves and flesh of the nut are food for cattle and the almonds become the precious and unique golden Argan Oil* which is then put into cosmetics and also used for culinary purposes.

Argan Oil is said to have restorative and age-defying effects. It is high in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it is believed to help all sorts of skin conditions: dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles. It is also believed to be very beneficial for scar tissue.

The Amalfi Stripe is back in Stock

The very popular Amalfi Stripe has arrived back in store today and if you were one of the many waiting to select your very own piece to add to your collection you better pop in soon so that you don't miss out again - once this lot is gone that is absolutely it - no more fabric left at all. We have the curve top and the mid double skirt in and are waiting for a few more pieces to arrive next week.

Another piece from the catalogue that had you all in a flap was the leather fringe vest and scarf - unfortunatly all of the scarves have been snapped up but we do have one vest left for one lucky Mela girl. It is stunning on. and looks amazing with white.

Yesterday one of our really lovely customers Sara Hatten-Masterson, came in to the store to pick up her custom Mela Purdie order and although I knew she is a Stylist & Image Consultant, I wasn't exactly sure what her services would include. Every time Sara comes in to Red Works she just looks Amazing. You know those people who can just throw something on in the morning and look like they have stepped off a runway in Milan or Paris - that is Sara to a T . One of the Red Works girls met her for the first time yesterday and she said "I just knew by the way that Sara was looking through the Mela collection that she was a serious shopper - she just took the whole Mela co-ordination to a whole new level - just amazing, she knew how to put it together so it just looked absolutely Wow".

The Red Works girls are fabulous at helping you to put your Mela Purdie collection together, and at helping you to accessorise. You know that we will always give you an honest opinion of what it looks like when you put it on, but if you want to take your Styling to that next level, Sara is just the woman to do it for you. You could book her to give your wardrobe a good clean-out and then take you shopping to refill it with pieces that are going to look sensational on you, no matter what size or shape you are.

We have been in our new home for two months now and it is really feeling like home to us now. All of the stock has found a home (although we ordered plenty of new stock at the recent Gift Fair so the showroom will no doubt be changing again soon). If you haven't been in for a visit yet you really should set aside 20min or so to pop in and have little wander and explore - the more you look at Red Works the more you find to fall in love with.

Spring/ Summer 2011 Mela Purdie

The Spring/ Summer Mela Purdie has been in store now for a couple of weeks and has been a massive hit with our ladies. Mela has certainly excelled herself with this latest collection which seems to have hit the mark with all age groups and all shapes and sizes - there is definitely something for everyone. Mela has used her trademark jersey in classic and sexy styles, she has added luxurious silks in stunning prints to create even more interest, and there have also been some new fabrics added to the collection which have the most amazing properties. The new Technical Weaves are quite revolutionary in that synthetic fibres can be woven to not only feel like natural fibres, but also breathe like natural fibres as well (hallejuah). If you haven't yet added a piece of charmeuse to your wardrobe you really are missing out - feels like silk, looks like silk.... but.... it isn't silk, and.... it's washable.

Red Works Mela Purdie "Wearable Layers" Fashion Parade - July 2011

We do like to socialise and we do love a champagne, and what better way to combine the two than with a spot of new season fashion. Our lovely Queensland Mela Purdie agent, Anne Breakwell hosted the evening and our ladies loved checking out the new season Mela Purdie Collection as well as getting styling tips and tricks from Anne. We really had a fabulous night and a special thanks to our friends and very beautiful models for the evening - Maria, Kerry and Rachael - and to think they don't usually get out of bed for less than $ 10000 a day !!!

Red Works New Home

The past few months have been an absolute whirl, but, as many of you already know, Red Works has a beautiful new home at the entrance to Paddington. It has been completely renovated with quite a bit of demolition and "renovator surprises" along the way ( I will post a few photos over the next few weeks) but I am so excited about the final product - the store really is beautiful and the lovely old building has been given a new lease of life and returned to a grand old building welcoming everyone to Paddington. You can't miss us on the corner of Given Terrace and Castlemaine Streets (across from Iceworks and Suncorp Stadium). Our new address is 156 Given Terrace. Paddington. Qld. We would love to see you in store soon and welcome you to come and inspect the work that Jack Nash (our amazing builder) and his boys did.

It is just a short blog tonight but I have been meaning to post a blog about our new address for about 4 weeks now so it is finally ticked on my "to do list" yippee! You will be hearing from me more regularly (I promise) now that life has settled down again. We have lots of stunning new stock and the new Mela collection for Spring /Summer 2011 has landed in store but I will post about that next week - time to go across the road for a champers :-) . Despite the torrential rain we have had in Brisbane in the past few days, our lovely Red Works ladies are braving the weather to come out and shop. One of the hottest items in the shop at the moment, other than Mela and Trollbeads, are these gorgeous book boxes. We have Paris (3 types), New York (black & white) and Silver boxes, and they are just flying out. They make fabulous gifts, terrific jewellery boxes and tres chic ways to hide away those collections of remote controls that we all have. A lovely way to remember travels or a motivation to travel to destinations that you have been longing to get to. Enjoy the current sunshine we have !

Trollbeads - new limited edition

Trollbeads have released an amazing new limited edition "Kimono Kit" collection

The delicate collection of six beads in matte colours is designed by Japanese designer Nozomi Kaji. It is made from Japanese glass and is inspired by the colours and patterns of a Japanese silk kimono.

The structure of the Japanese raw glass introduces a new look which is vastly different from the glass beads in the existing collection.
