The "new" Mela Purdie Candy Sleeve Top

Now that the weather is starting to feel like summer, the brighter colours in the Mela Purdie range are being snapped up. This gorgeous aqua in the new style Candy Sleeve top has had a huge response. Freshen up for Spring with some new Upholstery.

 

 

 

Red Works recently did some reupholstery work for a gorgeous client who had an old wingback suite sitting under her house. She loved the style of the suite but wanted to create a new "whimsical" look for it for a sitting room in her soon to be renovated home. She fell in love with the Alhambra pink cut velvet fabric and then also loved the chartreuse cut velvet from Mokum  and then the sofa fabric and trim/ button detail just fell in to place from there - we selected a heavy duty charcoal ottoman weave fabric and I think that the hot pink piping and deep buttoning detail is so much fun.

 

I can't wait to see this in her new home once the builder has done his magic. Talk about a twist on an old classic !

New Red Works shop display

Although we change our displays in the shop fairly frequently, I often forget to take photos to share with you. We have just put this display with South Pacific Fabrics and and Andrew Martin fabric  in to one of our window displays. I love walking past it on the way too and from my office as the colours are so fresh and vibrant it just makes me feel happy every time I see it. That chartreuse green is coming through very dominantly in new fabric collections from Europe.

Mela Purdie Fashion Parade Spring/ Summer 2012

Red Works hosted our Mela Purdie Spring Summer Fashion Parade 2012 on 19 July at the shop and we had a fabulous night.

The parade was ably compered by Anne Breakwell the Queensland Mela Purdie agent. As always Anne did a terrific job and the commentary was interesting, informative and ever entertaining. Thse who attended certainly had a few good laughs during the parade. Thanks for another wonderful event Anne

Our glamourous "Supermodel" clients Maria, Rachael and Kerry also did a wonderful job of making the new Season Mela range look as hot as ever.

Packing light for the Easter break ?

 

Would you like to be able to fit your week-end or Easter break requirements in a wheel on board like this gorgeous Catherine Manuel Design wheel-on ? Do you always fill your case with clothes that you never wear?  I thought for Easter I would give you a few tips about how to pack light for the break.

5 Tips to minimise your luggage but maximise your travel wardrobe:

1. Choose 1 basic colour and 2 or 3 accent colours eg: basic white with accents of black and red
2. Take only clothes that you can roll or twist in your luggage - no garments that crush too heavily. The Mela Purdie collection is perfect for this - roll-it up in your case and hang/ shake it out when you get to yoru destination - no ironing needed
3. Layer, layer, layer your clothes - this allows you to wear the same items but change the look from day to day.
4. Pack garments that can take you from day to night
5. Take 2 pairs of shoes in addition to the ones you are wearing - make sure that one pair is comfortable to wear all day and one pair will be able to be worn at night
